About Barbara:

Barbara had training in:
Basic Cake Decorating I and II, Advanced Cake Decorating, French Pastries, Marzipan and Chocolate Candies, Royal Icing Lattice-Work, Gum Paste Flowers, & Rolled Fondant Icing. The baker's training included: European breads, pastries, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes, & pies.

When graduating from her first cake class, the instructor informed her that she has a talent from God. In 1975, she had the privilege of teaching cake decorating for Wilton's at the Sanger Harris store located at Preston Center in Dallas, Texas. She demonstrated cakes for Sanger's in downtown Dallas, Preston Center, & Valley View mall. She taught cake decorating previously in New Orleans, Louisiana and has demonstrated cake decorating at the Infomart cooking stage (pictured below) in Dallas, Fort Worth Convention Center cooking stage, several schools, women's clubs, & churches.

She presently teaches private cake decorating lessons in the shop. Call for more info.

One of Barbara's brides called from Miami, Florida to order a wedding cake because she was getting married in the DFW metroplex. She wanted Pink Gerber Daisies out of fondant icing. They must be prepared in advance to dry. Barbara did not have a color swatch to match the color so she just prayed that the color would be correct. The day of the wedding the bride drove in to pick up her bridal cake. She took one look and started crying then proceeded to run out of the shop. Well, that can go one way or the other! She was either unhappy or very happy with her cakes. Thank God she was of the latter persuasion. She had gone to her car to bring in her bouquet. The flowers matched perfectly! Go God! This has happened several times where the cake matched perfectly.

Barbara and her husband Karl feel very blessed to serve the people in this area. Come and see our "little" Historical Landmark shop and sample some of our award winning cake and goodies!

Barbara decorated a replica (below) of the Ruthe Jackson Center in cake. After making that cake, Grand Prairie's Deputy Mayor Pro-Tem Ruthe Jackson interviewed Barbara and Karl on her cable show: What's Happening in Grand Prairie.

One year, Ruthe presented Barbara & cake to the Commissioner's Court in downtown Dallas. She had her picture taken between John Wiley Price & Ken Mayfield. The judge at-the-time was Judge Jackson. For the finale Ruthe asked Barbara to present the judge with the cake. Well, Judge Jackson shoved his chair back and threw his arms out. He thought Barbara was going to shove the cake in his face! Boy did everyone start laughing.

One of our wedding cakes was featured on the Channel 5's DFW Today Show. Several newspapers have written articles about the bakery. She even had her picture taken with Puge Rodriguez when he played for the Texas Rangers. (He gave her 3 signed balls!) Barbara was interviewed by the Why Guy on Channel 8 around 6 am one morning with one of her gingerbread houses in tow. The radio stations KCBI 90.9 FM, & KVTT 91.7 FM. also interviewed Barbara. She was so blessed to participate in that. One of our castle wedding cakes was featured on the Channel 5's DFW Today Show. (Shown below.) They loved it!

Barbara had a gingerbread House on a TV commercial with Southwest Airlines & Ronald McDonald House Charities. It aired from California to New York during the holidays. The commercial was about several children standing around a gingerbread house attempting to decorate it. They had tons of icing & candy to help with. After the press found out & printed an article about the little guy going big, several people wanted her autograph. Imagine that!
